CFO Optimism Index rises by 9.6% for third quarter of 2018: D&B

Monsoon, raw material costs, revival in demand key deciding factors

by Natasha Nadkar

Dun & Bradstreet (D&B)’s composite chief financial officer (CFO) Optimism Index has increased by 9.6 per cent for the July-September quarter of 2018. The risks from the stressed assets in the banking system and the fluctuations in currency have been outweighed by positive performance in indicators such as increase in bank credit, sales growth in automobile sector, increase in air passenger traffic, improvement in construction activity and buoyant capital markets, according to D&B’s managing director (India) Manish Sinha. He added that the next quarter’s CFO optimism level will depend on distribution of monsoon, raw material costs and revival in demand. Around 38 per cent of CFOs have stated risk management to be their priority in the next six months. As per the survey, 44 per cent and 32 per cent of CFOs expect increase in cost of funding and availability of funds, respectively.
