India, Chile hold first joint commission meeting

On 16 October 2020, India and Chile held their first joint commission meeting. Both the countries deliberated upon expanding their Preferential Trade Agreement and creating Joint Business Council to promote multi-faceted business and trade links. They agreed to add new momentum to their relations in a wide range of fields including trade and commerce, agriculture, health and social security, defence and space, science and technology, energy, mining, culture and education, disaster management and cooperation in Antarctica amongst others. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, especially in the context of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
