Pace of national highways construction touches record 37 km/day in 2020-21

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has achieved record-breaking milestone of constructing 37 km per day of national highways in financial year 2020-21. Over the past seven years, length of national highways has gone up by 50 per cent from 91,287 km as of April 2014 to 137,625 km as on 20 March 2021. Total budgetary outlay increased by 5.5 times, from Rs.334.1 billion in 2014-15 to Rs.1.8 trillion for the financial year 2021-22.
