Indian economy on course for sustainable recovery: TV Somanathan

Finance secretary TV Somanathan is optimistic about a steady and sustainable recovery for the Indian economy as he believes that the expeditious inoculation drive has almost diminished the chances of a major Covid-19 outbreak, reported Economic Times. Somanathan assured that the government will ensure that fund flows are adequate and support the capital projects of ministries. He also ruled out any significant impact from the ongoing power crisis on output, as flagged by some experts, stating that the coal shortage was a temporary problem. However, the finance secretary acknowledged that there were some downside risks such as a rise in international commodity prices and supply shortages outside the country that could hamper the recovery.
