Power ministry asks discoms to use unallocated power

The Ministry of Power has directed the state discoms to utilise the quota of unallocated power from central generating stations for supply to consumers rather than selling power at the exchanges. Usually, around 15 per cent of the power generated in power plants is left unallocated for supply to areas facing supply crunch. Discoms sell such unused power on power exchanges at higher rates.
