PFRDA subscriber base up by 24.1% to 53.2 mln in May 2022

The subscriber base in several schemes under the ambit of the National Pension System (NPS) grew to 53.2 million in May 2022 from 42.9 million in May, registering a year-on-year (y-o-y) growth of 24.1 per cent, as per the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) data. The subscribers in the category of central and state government employees of the NPS rose by 5.3 per cent and 7.7 per cent, respectively, to 2.3 million and 5.6 million. In the corporate sector and all citizen sector of NPS, the subscriber base jumped by 26.8 per cent and 39.1 per cent to 1.5 million and 2.4 million, respectively. The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) customer base rose by 31.6 per cent during the month to 37.2 million. Overall pension assets under management stood at Rs.7.4 trillion, displaying a y-o-y growth of 21.5 per cent in May 2022, PFRDA added.
