Crisil Research pegs CPI at 6.8% in FY23

Crisil Research has pegged headline consumer price inflation (CPI) at 6.8 per cent in 2022-23, premised on food inflation at seven per cent. The research wing has cited heat wave as the key domestic factor responsible for pushing up food prices this year in addition to global geopolitical conflicts. Crisil believes that as long as food inflation continues to rise or remains high, it will be that much more difficult for monetary policy to anchor inflation expectations.
