Asset monetisation in FY23 may see Rs.600 billion shortfall
The central government may miss its asset monetisation target of Rs.1.62 trillion for 2022-23 by around Rs.600 billion, reported Financial Express. The Ministry of Railways, Department of Telecom, the Ministry of Power, Airports Authority of India and the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways are expected to miss their targets by a wide margin. The Indian Railways alone may fall short of its annual target by Rs.300 billion. On the other hand, monetisation of coal and other mining assets is progressing at better-than-expected pace. While the target for this segment was increased to Rs.375 billion crore from the initial goal of Rs.60.6 billion, the achievement may be close to Rs.600 billion.
