The central government is likely to keep the borrowing for April-September 2023 at 55-58 per cent of its gross borrowing target for 2023-24 to front-load expenditure and keep bond supply closer to market expectations, as per media reports. The target for the next fiscal is set at Rs.15.4 trillion. The government borrowed 58 per cent of its yearly target in the first half of 2022-23.
